Superficial solutions are no longer sufficient for waterproofing: more advanced formulations are needed that penetrate the walls, allow for breathability, and react chemically with cement. Merks' single-component, cement-based product, M17, meets this exact need. This nano-mineral, capillary-action waterproofing material, which integrates into the concrete structure with its formula, represents a true innovation in construction chemicals.
What is M17 and Why is it Important?
Merks M17:
Single-component, applicable to both positive and negative surfaces.
Contains carefully selected aggregates and nano-mineral additives.
Reacts with moisture and water to penetrate deeply into concrete.
This way, it goes beyond simple surface coatings and provides waterproofing within the concrete providing effective, breathable protection from both inside and outside.

Where is it used?
Interior and exterior moisture/waterproofing of reinforced concrete walls, elevator shafts,
Foundations, basements, and retaining walls,
Galleries, tunnels, and water tanks,
Clean and wastewater treatment plants
Advantages: Strong & Lasting Performance
Resistant to positive and negative water pressure (≥7 bar penetration test)
Provides sulfate resistance, potable water compatibility, breathability, and resistance to freeze-thaw cycles.
Does not form a layer—integrates with concrete, is puncture-proof, and tear-proof.
Can be safely applied to both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
Application Methods
1. Scattering: During the concrete pour, the concrete is added to the mixer and scattered. A homogeneous mixture is achieved with a dosage of approximately 3 kg/m².
2. Brushing
After the surface is cleaned and moistened, two coats of M17 material, mixed with 7–7.5 liters of water, are applied with a brush. Wait at least 25 minutes between coats before curing to prevent clumping. During the curing phase, a damp canvas or spray should be applied at least four times a day for 3–4 days.
Merks Advantage: R&D & Application Support
Developed in the Merks R&D laboratory, M17 uses nano-mineral technology to chemically react with cement, penetrating deep into the concrete fibers.
Technical support and training are provided during application, and the dosage and curing processes are carried out professionally.
Application Tips
It should be applied between +5°C and +35°C; protect from direct sunlight, wind, and frost.
The dosage should be adjusted for each concrete mixer (maximum 6kg/M17 for 1m³ of concrete). Plasticizer should be used instead of excess water.
The concrete must be cured after vibration (by canvas or water spraying).
